The Power of a Word

Consider the following sentence, and rate on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how confident you are about the persons actions. “I’ll try to meet you at 11am”. You likely gave this a confidence rating of around a 4-5 out of 10. Now do the same with this sentence, “I’m going to meet you at 11am”. Your confidence is now probably close to a 10. Interestingly all that happened was we replaced the word ‘try’ by the word ‘going’. Changing just one word has the power to change your confidence!

Now think of how this applies to performance and life. Think of how different your life would be health wise if you said, “I’m going to lose 10 lbs., rather than, I’ll try to lose 10 lbs.”. Think what would happen performance wise if you said, “I’m going to push though this”, “I’m going to work harder than ever before”, “I’m going to learn from this”, or “I’m going to succeed”. The list of “I’m going to…” is endless. Create your own list today and start actioning it for your own success
